We welcomed Sundance aka Sunny in February 2021! Sunny was being fostered by one of my friends/volunteers who was fostering for a rescue near her. She always posted a lot about her fosters and when she posted Sunny, I immediately fell in love. Being a German Shepherd, I thought he would get scooped right up and adopted. Since I always try to help animals who would not have a good chance of being helped otherwise, I waited a couple of weeks. Sunny was showing some hip issues and was heartworm positive and that deterred several adopters. It did not deter us. So Sunny was brought to the farm for a meet and greet with Colton and it could not have gone better. He was perfect with her and was truly the absolute sweetest. He didn't have any right to be sweet as humans had let him down but this boy was all heart and kindness. He loved being on the farm more than I could ever explain. He took on the job so well of looking after Tidbit and Polly who were babies at the time.
Unfortunately, those hip issues turned into degenerative myelopathy and that took him, just 11 months after arriving. I was so mad and upset that this boy only had this short time knowing love, friends, and a forever home. He lived those 11 months to the fullest I know that but it was so heartbreaking for so many to lose this special boy and it was certainly hard on Colton and myself. We miss him every day!
